At the dinner table with my red, black and white family

At the dinner table with my red, black and white family

Unlike lots of families we gather around the dinner table several times each week. You never know where the conversation is going to take us. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes someone gets mad, and other times its pure chaos.
So let me share one of our conversations.
To start with Mooky is scared of most anything that moves that is not human. She is my chosen black daughter. She and 3 of my grand kids moved back in with us several months ago. My house went from two to five overnight with 3 kids 10 and under.
I was raised on a farm and Lindsey my oldest white daughter was raised around animals and no doubt should have been a veterinarian. She and I had traded pictures of miniature cows and goats that day. The red miniature cow was soooo cute and I said that I wanted one. Of course that isn’t going to happen living in the city limits. Lindsey wants the miniature goat. We have dogs and cats now which Mooky tolerates but isn’t overly fond of. We begin to share stories of a house that we lived in years ago that had several snakes in the yard. As we are talking I notice Mooky keeps tapping her head. You have to get this picture in your mind. She can’t scratch her head because of her hair. She is scratching her arms, her face, and patting her head. Out of not where she jumps up and says “where is the benadryl”? WHAT, I ask what’s wrong with you. She says “what’s wrong with you all” talking about cows, goats, snakes?
THEN she said “oh my God I forgot you all was white”
Welcome to my crazy mixed up family. Stay tuned, there is never a dull moment.
